The Wedding Planner
Why You Need A Wedding Planner
The average wedding takes hundreds of hours to plan. A significant amount of time is spent sourcing, meeting and negotiating with vendors. Including reception venues, stylists, florists, caterers, musicians, photographers… and the list goes on and on.
A wedding planner simplifies the process by managing meetings, reviewing contracts and ensuring that every vendor is fully briefed prior to the wedding. A planner will keep track of your budget and handle all the logistics.
On the big day, the wedding planner is the director of the entire event and ensures that every vendor successfully executes their assigned task. This includes directing your timeline and sometimes your guest,
However, there is a misconception that wedding planners only work on big-budget weddings. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Most wedding planners, have a range of packages available, from partial planning, on-the-day management, venue sourcing and full planning. Packages can be tailored to suit the requirements of the bride no matter the budget. As for the Planners involvement, well that is entirely up to you.
When you hire Rooted Events and Designs as your wedding planner we work to ensure that your expectations are meet. It is your special day and we want to make it as special and memorable as possible.
The Ring
The Ring
He popped the question! You said yes! Now what?
Congratulations! You are getting married! We know how tempting it is to immediately start pinning boards, signing up for every online resource and start your planning. If you have planned weddings and events before it can be a breeze.
For those of you who have only attended weddings, been a part of a wedding party (maid of honor or a bridesmaid) you will soon find out there is a bit more to do than just picking a place and shopping for a dress.
There is a plethora of things to do and they can seem very overwhelming. Before you do anything, we suggest you sit with your significant other and discuss a budget. Couples who have a defined budget, and know that the budget, "is the budget" will not be so persuaded to go down the proverbial "rabbit hole" of overspending.
Here's where we can help you! We offer couples a complimentary face to face or phone meeting to help them establish their needs and wants, while keeping to a budget. In our meeting we discuss things like your top three most important things, guest list, venues, catering, drinks, and the most important thing of all not over spending. When you become husband and wife you don't wake up the next morning frustrated that you both now have a wedding to pay for and the wedding is over!
We have seen the most elaborate weddings extravaganzas, to the most breathtaking backyard DIY weddings ever. Here's an example below of what we are capable of, while keeping to a budget:
Last year, we had an opportunity to work with a couple that had lost their dream beach wedding venue to a hurricane just weeks before the big day. We had a little over two weeks to help them relocate the wedding location back to Atlanta. This meant securing a venue, hiring all the vendors (caterer, photographer, DJ, florist, baker) and quickly get new invitations out to all the guest. The couple got to do a cake tasting, meet with the florist and photographer. The last steps were arranging all the accommodations and transportation. That is where we really stepped in and made it all happen.
This all was done in under three weeks! We have the proof on our website in testimonials and pictures. Better yet, and once "the dust was settled" the couple received a refund from the beach venue and saved thousands of dollars, all by allowing us to jump in and make their special day happen.
Yes, it was unfortunate about the hurricane. No, they did not get married on the beach. However, they did have a beautiful wedding that had everything (minus the beach) and more they wanted! To this day, I still receive referrals and comments from their wedding guest about how wonderful and special the wedding was.
I guess my point is, you have your beautiful ring, the man of your dreams, and now you are going to plan your wedding. So remember this, to communicate about finances and the budget, hire someone to help you if you are not sure what to do, but most of all, enjoy your engagement and planning you very special day!

The Dress
The Dress
Say Yes To The Dress!
I truly enjoy helping brides find their dress. There is something magical about the moment a bride puts on a dress and you see tears of happiness and joy.
I love hearing “This is MY Dress”!
Recently, I had the opportunity to help a lovely bride shop for her dress. She had been to several other bridal appointments before she came to see me. She had a large group with her. It was the end of the day and everyone in the group, including the bride looked tired. So with some encouraging words and a few moments with the bride away from the group, she explained to me what she thought she wanted and her budget. So away we went, to select a couple dresses. Within 30 minutes she was tearful (happy tears) and saying, “Yes to the Dress”! I contribute this success to many things, but most importantly, I listened to her and understood her budget.
So before you make your appointment(s) with bridal shops and invite your “Bride Tribe” to join you in your search for your dress, let me share some tips with you that will help make your wedding dress shopping experience delightful for everyone and help you find your dress!
The number one thing you must do is set your budget. It is so disappointing to go through all the emotions of finding your perfect dress, to discover the dress is more that you can spend. Be realistic about what you can spend on your dress. There are hundreds of beautiful wedding dresses for every budget.
Shop for your dress 12 to 9 months ahead. If you wait, you may not be able to get the dress you want in time for your wedding, hence your selection will be less.
Do your research. Maybe there is a designer you think you would like. Use social media to find and save dresses you like. We love those Pinterest Boards!
Make your Bridal Shop appointments. Ask questions like how many guests can you bring to your appointment. Many bridal shops do not allow photos, no food and beverage, some even limit how many dresses you can try on. Please make sure you understand and respect the bridal shops dos and don’ts.
Wisely choose your “Bride Tribe”. Be mindful of bringing an entourage. The bigger your entourage the more opinions. Bringing two or three people that you are closest to will give you the best, most successful outcome and you will be saying “yes” to the dress.
Your shopping day has arrived! Things you should do.......
Wear or bring the right undergarments. The correct undergarments can make the difference of a wedding dress fitting well.
Wear minimal makeup. You don’t want to get makeup on those beautiful dresses.
Do your hair in a way that resembles a hairstyle you think you want to wear on your wedding day.
Eat something before you go! Being hungry can affect your mood and attitude. (Don’t overeat or eat anything that might make you feel bloated). E at something light but filling before you set off on your shopping day.
Have an open mind and be honest! Describe your dream dress to your bridal consultant. Be honest about what you like and don’t like, as well as what you are comfortable wearing. Remember the consultant is there to help you pick the dress of your dreams.
And Last…. Have fun! Shopping for your dress should be a meaningful and memorable experience.
